A Farmer's Guide to Oldhill Farm (Stardew Valley)

So I started a new farm in Stardew Valley. The second one on the Steam Deck. Third farm overall for the Steam/PC version of the game. I started playing Stardew again shortly after getting my Steam Deck in January, modding the crap out of the game and making it three times as large. That need to mod soon ballooned out of control and I was adding cheat mods, and quality-of-life mods that oversimplified the game to the point that it wasn't fun anymore.

So I canned the playthrough.

But I came back!

I recently adopted the name "Oldhill" for my farms. It's a simple little name, that fits most older game's character limits and is a nod to an older RPG that either people don't know about or prefer to forget exists.

I plan on making these sort of posts once after every in-game season, creating a journal of my time spent with the farm that I hope to 100%—And THEN mod the heck out of.

My endgame goal is this: Ship every item that can be shipped-- And that means growing every crop and finding every forageable. THEN I will mod the game to add in new crops, forageables, and fruit trees for further fun!

And then after that and I've cooked all of the in-game recipes, I will add the expanded cooking mods that piggyback off of some of the new crop and fruit tree mods. This will also include new maker items and thus more artisan goods!

That said, I have not removed ALL of the mods from the game. Leaving a few of the simpler QOL improvement mods in place. There are even some recolor mods to desaturate the in-game graphics a bit. Nothing major and nothing cheaty, but just enough to simplify a few minor qualms after the 300+ hours I've spent with the game overall.

I've also changed the character portraits as well; The Harvest Moon/Story of Seasons-styled art is nice and clearly a lot of work went into them.

Nothing but good luck within the mines. I made it to the 100th floor before the end of the first spring with naught but an hour to spare. Definitely sweating bullets at that point.

And these are my end of Spring Year 1 stats.
