COMMISSIONED: 'Gone Fishin' by AWD

The first of many pieces of art I've commissioned AWD to do for me over the past year. This was the first time I'd had two characters drawn together in a scene straight out of a chapter from Last Tail, and I love how it turned out. Especially Brigid in her prototype clothing.
COMMISSIONED: 'Advrik mugshot' by Novaloux

Novaloux is one of those artists whose style I absolutely adore, but her prices are typically out of my range most of time, or they become available at a point where the money I put aside from comms is tied up with different artists. But when I saw she had some quick mugshots available and had some extra money aside, I took the plunge and got this piece done and I LOVE IT.
I ultimately want to get a full-body image of Brigid done by her.
COMMISSIONED: 'Advrik, Feral Form' by Aerofistashka

The first piece I had commissioned of his feral form, leaving it up to the artist to translate his anthro design into the graceful creature seen above. She did an incredible job.

Advrik in his anthro form might be an easy-going, laid-back sort of beast. But catch him in his Feral form and it's a whole other story.

Last Tail :: Map of Brickhedge (As of 2.22.25)
F7 = Dawing Sunrise Boarding House (Desmond)
Venture Kid - A Noteworthy Mega Man-like
Initially released in 2016, Venture Kid from developer Snikkabo AS on mobile platforms before jumping to proper gaming platforms in 2018 on Steam and then a year later in 2019 on the Switch. And while its mobile origins are very much apparent in how Venture Kid actually moves and jumps--which honestly could be more or less due to the dev wanting to differentiate it from Mega Man--the game still feels perfectly at home with an actual controller, save for one small little hitch.
In Venture Kid, you play as Andy in his fight against the evil Doctor Teklov. You can choose to go through the eight stages in any order via Classic Mode, or you can hit them in sequential order in Adventure Mode. The choice is yours.
Along the way, you'll perform the usual actions expected from a Mega Man-like. Shooting sets of 3 lemons from your blaster, dodging and destroying enemies and bosses, then repeating it in the next stage using the new weapon you gained.
Special weapons aren't earned from the bosses themselves but rather are given to Andy by your Uncle upon defeating the stage boss. And they're all pretty useful, too, except for the rocket that fires off at an angle.
Stage designs are really well done and offer a bunch of run, gun, and platforming action to satisfy anyone looking for that Mega Man kick that Capcom is refusing to give us. Many of the stages branch off to seemingly dead ends that oftentimes require the use of a specific weapon or through hitting a switch elsewhere in the stage. These would often lead to one of the eight hidden golden treasures that would be needed to fight the final boss and see the true ending.
Boss battles were fairly simplistic and typically lasted less than a minute each, but they were fun and never felt too difficult or poorly designed, at least in how you fought them. Design-wise, there's very little, if any, explanation as to why you're fighting these random miners or a bobcat with no noteworthy design features. That aspect of the game felt oddly random compared to how tight everything else felt.
My only major gripe with the game would be that Andy simply jumps too high. The controls are tight, but man, you can tell from the moment you heat the apex of a full jump that this game was designed initially for mobile platforms.
Overall, though, I really enjoyed the game. It's nothing spectacular, but if you want a well-built, snappy 8-bit Mega Man-like, then you can absolutely do much worse.

Introduction Redux
Hiya! The name’s Advrik. A 30-something Grey Wolf living his best life in the town of Brickhedge! Oh, haven’t heard of it? It’s a small mountain town in—*incomprehensible wolf noises*
But to break character for just a moment. My name’s Richard, or Rick. I am in my late 30s. I am an aspiring writer and wanna-be published author with a vivid imagination and sense of adventure for someone nearing forty years of age with clinically diagnosed anxiety and depression, so if I’ve got anything going for me, it’s that.
If the introductory blurb or header image wasn’t enough to give it away, I am a Furry. It had been something that followed me all my life, with a realization of, yes, that is actually what I am, occurring in 2010.
Below is a quick list of some of my interests, therefor things to expect here if you follow me:
- Books! Specifically creature-feature horrors and fantasy.
- Gaming! RPGs, life-sims, action-adventure in particular.
- Movies! Horror and Science-Fiction are my go-to genres.
- Outdoorsy stuff! Fishing, hiking and gardening.
And going back to the mention earlier of my liking to write: I am actively writing a series titled Last Tail. Set in the fictional town of Brickhedge, it’s a slice-of-life tale coated in a thick layer of epic modern fantasy, all wrapped up with a colorful and eccentric cast of anthropomorphic animals! It takes place on an alternate reality version of Earth where humans never came to be, where magic is as common as the smartphone, and monsters are the main source of danger… Outside of evil, reality-bending politicians that may or may not get their powers from cosmic horrors.
And without dabbling too much about it because I absolutely do not and will not be posting about the current climate in this country: I am an Ally, one hundred percent. The only time my personal opinions will be expressed here will be via episodes of Last Tail once I start posting them, as I use the series as an escape and expression.
If you’ve read this far, thank you! You’d be the first person in a long time to have read any of my ramblings.
