GAME POWER! :: Mega Man III

Hoo boy, this is never one I look forward to playing as it's pretty much the only game that I am consistently bad at. I didn't grow up playing the Classic series like I did the X games so all the skills and techniques that I possess were gained in my late teens and adulthood, so more often than not, I just kind of flat-out stink when it comes to the 8-bit Classic titles.

Dr. Wily is up to no good once more. This time with a set of eight brand new Robot Masters for Mega to deal with.

The minibosses scattered throughout the game have great big meaty sprites that were typically reserved for Wily Castle stages in later games. Snake Man's miniboss always stood out especially strong in my eyes.

Did I mention earlier how I loathe the seemingly random, unpredictable boss patterns in this game? I don't know if it's just a Me issue, but I just cannot get them down for some reason like I do in every other game in this gigantic series.

That said, I do love the designs for the RMs in this game, notably Snake Man as he was one of the first animal-themed Robot Masters, and honestly? Probably one of the most memorable.

In Gemini Man's stage, we get hit with a few of these nice chunky penguin robot minibosses.

Gemini Man himself has a cool design and isn't overly difficult to bring down with the right slithery weapon.

I kinda goofed on the screenshots in this run so I don't have any images of Needle Man, so I am just going to run through the rest of the RMs out of order because I am stupid like that.

My next target was Shadow Man. His stage was unusual in that it didn't match his ninja-like appearance. And halfway through, I encountered Proto Man again. We fought, but as per the usual, I won.

Shadow Man was waiting for me at the very end. He talked a threatening game but I spun him right around using my Top Spin weapon!

Magnet Man was my next target; He was relatively easy compared to the majority of the RMs thus far and probably should have been the one I took down first.

Hard Man was next. His attacks were damaging and his weight made it so the shockwaves from him impacting the ground froze me in place.

Smashing Top Man with some well-aimed Hard Knuckles made quick work of this spinny guy.

With the eight Robot Masterd defeated, reports came in of eight unidentified but identical-looking robots had appeared all with their own unique abilities. Without hesitation, I dashed into action!

Turns out they were an assortment of all-purpose robots designed to replicate the eight robot masters from the previous attack. They each possessed one unique and familiar ability.

With the Doc Robots scrapped it was time to finally confront... Break Man?!

So you put on a Sniper Joe visor and change your name to Break Man? Real original, Proto.

While dealing with Proto- I mean Break Man, Dr. Wily attack Dr. Light's lab and stole Gamma!

Here we go: Time for Dr. Wily's castle once again!

First up is the Kamegoro Maker: A machine that spits out little fast-moving turtle robots that are easily destroyed.

In the next stage, we came face to face with yet another Yellow Devil. This one was much easier to deal with as you could punch it right in its eye using Hard Knuckle!

The next challenge that Wily threw at me was a collection of holograms that were quickly dealt with using Top Spin.

Time to face Wily and his gigantic Wily Machine once again! With a combination of Hard Knuckle and Shadow Blade, the machine exploded into a million pieces, tossing Dr. Wily right into—Wait, that's not Wily!

The Wily Machine 3 was a distraction intended to give the doctor more time to finish modifying the stolen Gamma! Wily wasted no time in his attack, but it just wasn't enough and I was able to topple the titan with ease.

And thus the day was yet again saved. But out long would this peace last this time?
