GAME POWER! :: Mega Man II

Do I love Mega Man II? No. Do I hate it? Absolutely not! It's an overall solid game and a huge step up from Mega Man I, but by no means is it the best of the 8-bit titles. In my opinion at least.

As I had mentioned in my ReCollection for Mega Man II, it was the game that first introduced me to the world of video games waaaaay back at the beginning of the 1990s.

This time, Dr. Wily added two more evil robots to the mix bringing the total Robot Masters one must defeat to eight, a staple of the series going forward.

The first Robot Master(RM going forward) that you want to tackle is good 'ol Bubble Man. With an easy-to-dodge attack pattern and weakness to the lemon, he can be brought down with ease.

Though not the easiest to get to without power adapters, Heat Man would be the next in line if going at the game using RM weapons to exploit weaknesses.

Wood Man is next on the chopping block, and with a fully charged shot from Heat Man's weapon, he'll drop in no time.

Next up is Air Man and man, getting out of a fight with him without taking damage is tough. Major props to those that can do that sort of thing.
Air Man is weak to Leaf Shield, assuming you can get close enough to hit him with it.

Crash Man is next in line and easily blown over using Air Man's weapon while mid-jump.

Metal Man is infamous for having the single most destructive weapon in all of the Classic Mega Man series. Metal Blade can be shot in eight different directions, packs a wallop AND uses very little ammo when fired—And most RMs are weak against it, including Metal Man himself!

Throwing a couple of well-timed Metal Blads will bring Flash Man down in a flash.

If Quick Man's stage didn't test your patience enough, then he certainly will. Despite being able to freeze him temporarily using Flash Man's weapon, it won't do enough damage to destroy him, thus leaving you to deal with the rest of his health using the Mega Buster... Assuming you can hit him.

Defeating the eight Robot Masters opens the way to Wily's menacing castle!

The first threat you'll face as you assault the evil doctor's castle is the Mecha Dragon. It is easily destroyed with either the buster or Quick Man's weapon.

Dropped into a pit at the end of Wily Castle 2, you are forced to fight the room itself! Picopico-Kun forms when two blocks on opposite sides of the room join together. The are easily destroyed with Bubble Lead or Metal Blade.

Stage 3 has a gigantic Guts Man attempt to roll over poor Rock. Ironically despite his giant size, Guts Tank poses less of a threat than the human-sized Guts Man and can be easily dispatched with the Mega Buster.

*deep breath*
Boobeam Trap can only be destroyed with Crash Man's weapon. What makes this fight so annoying is its hard-to-avoid attacks and the fact that their only weakness has a limited amount of ammo and that if you aren't prepared, you'll likely have to make two attempts at fighting this thing if you don't know where to make use of the Option tools.

Following the rematch with the eight Robot Masters, you finally come face to face with Dr. Wily in his patented Wily Machine 2.

It's not over yet, because now Dr. Wily himself attacks you by... turning into an alien?! Bubble Lead will wash away that facade!
