Last Tail :: Episode 47: Shower Scene

 The rainy, windy conditions had not only persisted the rest of the day but intensified as well. Residents of Brickhedge were urged to batten down the hatches for the coming storm as the state was placed under Emergency status.

Secret of Memoria :: Prologue

The lighting in the tavern that night was dim, the keep failing to refuel the lanterns with the needed oil. Patrons complained as they bumped into one another, spilling ale and dropping bread and other eats to the dirty floor below. The crowds that flooded this particular tavern, located on the bottom-most tier of the multi-leveled castle town of Vandole, were of the working class. Farmers, fishermen, lumberjacks, the people who worked their materials, blacksmiths, you name it.

Last Tail :: Episode 46: Something in the Woods

 “Another goddamn rainy week—”

“It’s gonna be a rainy one this week, folks.” The voice on the radio and Brigid speaking at the same time, “ Just listen to that heavy patter of raindrops on your windows. Got some heavy winds in there too, no thanks to a powerful tropical system moving in from the south.”

“This asshole’s upbeat voice this early in the morning is—“

“—A major washout in some areas further down the mountain, so if you’ve any travel plans for the next few days, then I highly recommend—“ his voice was silenced, the radio shut off.

Last Tail :: Episode 45: Dear Journal, Entry 2

Dear Journal.
It’s your boy, Desmond. Been a few months since I’ve put anything to paper, but I have been pretty busy this time. Like, for real, for the first time in my life. Stuff that doesn’t always directly involve my own personal benefit but that of others.
Surprised? Me too. Ever since my… ‘family’ dropped me off and fled the state, I’ve felt like my entire self had been broken into seven pieces and scattered across the world, with no instructions waiting for me to tell me how the pieces fit. But you know what? As each piece was found and I was able to really sit down and look at the state my life is in now, I realized that each piece need not fit together exactly as it had before, making things a whole lot fucking easier for me. I no longer had to be ‘that’ Desmond when I was around my family. I had freedom now, my own money coming in, and… friends.

Last Tail :: Episode 44: The Autumn Season Part II

 True to the morning forecast, the snow did, in fact, begin to fall in Brickhedge.

The local radio station even interrupted the latest Taylor Swift song to allow their forecaster to make a surprise cut-in to tell the beasts of Brickhedge that, yes, it was indeed snowing.

For a solid fifteen minutes, shortly before the lunchtime rush, snowflakes and brightly colored leaves mingled and danced in the wind all across the small mountain town, creating a sight that astounded most, disgruntled others, and filled the less understanding children of town with the false hope that a forthcoming snow day-or week-was coming.

Last Tail :: Episode 43: The Autumn Season Part I

The first red maple leaf of the season drifted lazily past the wolf’s bedroom window, his vision still blurred from the previous night’s restful sleep. Trees all over town and on the outskirts had started their annual process of shedding their foliage. Once vibrantly green, the surrounding forests and hillsides were now cornucopias of different reds, yellows, browns, and oranges, with the occasional evergreen peppered in for that extra splash of color.

Last Tail R :: Episode 05: The Doctor is In

 Callista, the Mountain Lion, was a beast that could turn heads at every stop, and she liked it that way. As her friend and now coworker, a local opossum named Leif, trotted off to help the fox with some directions to Toh’s Beans, Callista finished what was left of her cream-filled donut.

First official vacation

Been at my new job for over a year and a half now, and in my current management position for less than five months. I wanted to wait until I had a good amount of vacation hours saved up before I went, which meant I was going to delay my usual vacation to well past the usual time frame when I took it from my old work.

So this year, I decided to take it during the first week of autumn, so starting today through the 30th, I will be off and away from work to recharge and refresh before tackling the next part of the year, which is going to involve the holidays.

But what do I plan on doing while on vacation? Honestly, just playing a lot of games, watching a lot movies and cooking and eating a lot of food, for it autumn is the season of the feast, and that is exactly what I intend to do this week.

An annual tradition of mine is to make a bit pot of beef stew on the first day of autumn, along with a pumpkin cheesecake. The latter of which I've already made,
The stew will be started early tomorrow morning and left to slow cook all day.

To entertain me between writing episodes of Last Tail and reading whatever depraved horror novel I can get my hands on will be Trails of Cold Steel.
I played it in the past on the PS3, and did enjoy it, but being able to play it in portable form is really going to increase that enjoyment.

Last Tail R :: Episode 04: The Big Guy

 Eligh ran his massive claw through his greased-back hair, the same auburn color as his beard and mustache combo. The gigantic grizzly wouldn’t have looked out of place in a red plaid shirt, serving up coffee in a trendy cafe somewhere.

What did look out of place, however, was the stuffy suit and tie he had crammed his mighty muscular form into. His expansive chest and ultra-wide shoulders made him look more like a caricature of a politician than an actual politically minded beast.

Last Tail R :: Episode 03: Welcome to the Neighborhood

“Up yours!” the purple fox shouted, not caring one iota for the attention it and accompanying gesture had drawn.

Last Tail R :: Episode 02: The Drop-Off

One glance inside of the minivan that was currently chugging away in its endeavor to climb the steep grade of the mountain road and would not be remiss to think that a family of Lovecraftian horrors had decided to take a Sunday afternoon drive. But that would be far, far from the truth of the matter, for the beasts that resided within were naught but moles of the Star-Nosed variety.

Last Tail R :: Episode 01: In The Beginning

 “If you want the property, you’ll have to meet us at Town Hall today by 3pm sharp. I realize the distance is great and that this is rather strict timing on our part, but at this point, it’s the only way we can see this offer through as it stands.

I hope to see you soon, Mr. Drahcir.”

Last Tail :: Episode 42: Girl's Night

ME: Good nite then! Good luck with your project.

ME: Night*

Brigid dropped her phone onto the charger. She knew just as well as Advrik that neither she nor he was going to be sleeping anytime soon, but wishing him goodnight felt like the right thing to do.

Last Tail :: Episode 41: Desmond and Moss

The first frost of the season had come quickly to the town of Brickhedge as a cold front swept through the mountain town the day prior, ushering in cold, dry air from the far north, sending the temperatures plummeting into the lower thirties.

Farmers still holding out for the Harvest Moon to bring in the final crops of the season were in a frantic rush the whole day, trying to get in as much as they could. All the while flower shops and local gardeners attempted to get their plants covered ahead of the impending frost.

The wind that came with the front had come on strong as well, blowing upwards of fifty miles per hour at times. What had started as a relatively normal beginning to the autumn season had quickly jumped ahead into weather that the locals had described as the ‘post-Thanksgiving chills!’.

Last Tail :: Episode 40: The Pack

Deep thumps of heavy booted paws echoed down the silent hallway, accompanied by a lighter patter and tack-tack-tack of claws.

Though the hallway screamed medical facility, the beasts that stalked the hallway gave no impression of a medical practitioner.

Garou Loveless, a Dire Wolf whose mere appearance emanated strength, loped a few steps behind a shorter beast dressed in a military suit and adorned with a red tie.

Only the hum of the central cooling system produced any accompanying sound as the two made their way to their destination, sharing hardly a whisper of a breath between them.

Advrik, a beast of many interests

Got this amazing little surprise birthday gift from a friend of mine yesterday, and I'm just like, that is literally me.

Last Tail :: Episode 39: Side Quests*

 “I’m nearly broke!” barked the wolf, looking at his latest bank statement. The savings he had long held onto and coaxed into town on had finally dried up.

Advrik scratched his shaggy head as he went over his latest expense report, with the latest outing he’d spent with Brigid having pushed him closer to the red than ever. Not that it hadn’t been worth it, mind, but he wanted to show her a good time much as he himself wanted to have one.

The youngest of two boys born to the Brannigon household, Eligh had grown up under a lot of pressure from his hardworking farmer father and older brother, who had taken after the family patriarch. This resulted in the bear developing severe anxiety as a result, particularly when it came to talking to and in front of others.

:: CREATION & INSPIRATION ::

Eligh, the last of the main cast, was designed with two ideas in mind. One being that he was to simply LOOK like the high school football jock-type at first glance, what with his sports jersey, a backward baseball hat and cargo shorts. The other was that his hairstyle/facial hair would take inspiration from the Hipster scene and that his personality would ultimately betray his overall appearance as a whole, with him being the huge, nervous gentle giant.,

LAST TAIL :: Episode 38: It's a Date! (Part II)

"W-What do you mean you don't have any?!" the fox said, clearly wanting to swear.

The orange tabby behind the counter gave his shoulders a little shrug, "Sorry, but we here at Toh's Beans don't really like to chase the seasonal trends. But I can offer you a nice, spicy sweet potato latte if you're here for that sort of--"

But the fox raised her hand in protest, her entire day ruined with a single sentence. She couldn't even find it in herself to want to chew Toh out over it. There would be plenty of time for that later, anyway.

LAST TAIL - Episode 37: It's a Date! (Part I) SEASON 3 PREMIERE

 With the passing of time comes the passing of the seasons, and Brickhedge is no exception. Here, however, it always seems that the seasons arrive just a tad bit earlier than most places.

"Ignore the Old Farmer's Almanac!" an editorial piece in the week's Brickhedge Times states in bold letters, overshadowing the bigger article about a recent campaign rally. "Just like every year, you can expect cooler temperatures to begin settling in over the course of the final day of August, with the first real effects being immediately noticeable when you step outside your house the next morning!"

The 37th Year Approaches

The autumn season has (finally) come around once again, and with it a whole new season of possibilities, adventures to be had and stories to be told.

Firstly, we hit a certain sales goal at work for this quarter, which is pretty typical overall, but what makes this one matter so much to me is that it is the first full quarter where I've been in my management position, so on top of the amazing paycheck I make ever other week, I am now looking at an additional $830 on top of it.

And the best part is, it's come literally three days before my 37th birthday!

My birthday is on September 8th, but since I actually work that day, I will be celebrating it come payday with a trip out of town for a day of shopping, relaxing and hopefully a big bowl of ramen somewhere!

I am currently without my PC thanks to the local mail carrier screwing the delivery up of my new desk. I had taken my old desk apart in advance, disconnected my PC and all that jazz because I expected to come home and put together my new one, but alas come the end of the day, the desk never showed up. And the real crap on top was the holiday this week delayed the delivery further.

I am glad that I finished the season 2 finale of Last Tail when I did, but I am itching so badly to jump back in and start the next season.

The desk is scheduled for delivery tomorrow, so we'll see.

In other news, later this month, I will be taking my first scheduled vacation from work since I began the working there last spring, and I am excited. It'll occur during my annual Autumn Welcoming celebration that I hold ever year by making a big pot of beef stew and a homemade pumpkin cheesecake.

I've got some new fishing gear as well that I really haven't had much an opportunity to get out to use given the strain work has been in these final weeks of summer, plus the constant string of heatwaves have driven the fish deeper. But in the coming days, I will definitely be getting back out there.
