Heat Waaaaaave

"Man, it's a hot one," classically said in the opening lyrics to Santana and Rob Thomas' 1999 hit, Smooth. The song that to me personally, embodies the summer season. The smooth, latin-sounding guitar playing from Carlos Santana and the deep vocals from Rob Thomas(of Matchbox Twenty) meld so well together. It also does not help that the song was everywhere during the Summer 2000 season, so I most associate it with then/that time of year.

And man, let me tell you, the weather this week has been ROUGH.

My neck of the woods has found itself beneath a heat dome, with temperatures steadily in the mid-90s. No substantial rain in weeks and no relief in sight, things are getting kind of dire. Having to water my garden twice a day when possible, the potted plants at work struggling under the constant barrage of heat and single waterings.

Speaking of work, as I'm now the Garden Center Supervisor/Manager, I spend 7+ hours a day in direct sunlight. A scary prospect considering what the sun can do to someone, but I take measures to protect myself by wearing a sun hat, sunscreen on my face and hands, and a light, breathable long sleeve for my arms. Do I get a bunch of comments about how I dress in this heat? Oh, absolutely, and I can't blame them either.

But the simple matter of fact is that I don't really feel the heat. I don't sweat like others tend to do, and that is the single biggest double-edged sword of my life! I can't tell when I've been in the sun for too long until it's too late, so I'm constantly approaching blackout levels. It's nuts.

Anyway. What else is going on/happened this month? Oh yes, the Steam Summer sale begins Friday afternoon and I'm pumped! So many games I want to buy this time. Mainly smaller titles like Freedom Planet 2 and Dawn of the Monsters. Most of my meaty RPG time is being spent in Retroarch with older games.

Dark Crystal Age of Resistance

I hate Netflix more than a Podling hates bathing for canceling this show with only one season. It was every bit a work of art as the film it's a prequel to.

I'll never pay for another Netflix subscription, instead buying fan-made Blu-rays of their shows.
